Hecla Greens Creek Mining Company, a Hecla Mining Company subsidiary, owns the Greens Creek Mine, a gold, silver, zinc and lead mining operation near Juneau, Alaska. Greens Creek's underground mine delivers a polymetallic ore (containing all four minerals) to a mill and concentrator, which produces separate concentrates that are then delivered to smelters worldwide. The company had been owned by Rio Tinto subsidiary Kennecott Minerals and shared ownership of the Greens Creek mine with Hecla until a 2008 deal brought the company and the mine fully under Hecla's control; Hecla paid $750 million for the company.
