Welcome, we are an Independent Montessori School founded in 1984, located just west of Traverse City, Michigan. The beautiful campus honors the rural history of the region. Architecturally designed to serve 300 active learners, infant through 6th grade, the building and its gardens, small woodlands and open fields attract a diverse population of families. Children's House Montessori faculty has attained professional Montessori certification at well-respected AMS and AMI teacher-training sites. Partnering with families to raise exceptional learners, the Children's House offers year-round, all day, developmentally-appropriate programs for students, as well as educational opportunities for parents. We create a social fabric for families and support for meaningful communication between the school and the home.

Time capsule offers glimpse of past

Historical preservation graduate students from Eastern Michigan University spent last week at DeYoung Natural Area on Cherry Bend Road just north of Traverse City. They located and inventoried a time capsule of local artifacts and remnants of the industrial revolution from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
