Eurasia Drilling Company Limited is engaged in the provision of exploratory and development drilling and oil and gas filed services to companies operating within the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, and Caspian Sea region. The Company operates in two segments: onshore drilling conducted in the CIS and offshore drilling conducted in the Caspian Sea. Its onshore drilling services include the construction of production, exploration and appraisal oil and gas and certain other types of wells, including vertical, deviated and horizontal wells, ranging from a depth of approximately 1,200 meters to some wells in excess of 5,000 meters. As of December, 31 2007, its total land drilling rig fleet consisted of 195 drilling rigs and 88 workover rigs. The Company owns and operates one jack-up rig in the Caspian Sea, the Astra. During the year ended December 31, 2007, Eurasia Drilling Company Limited established a Russian subsidiary, OOO BKE Shelf, to operate its offshore drilling services segment.
