Air France-KLM is an airline company. The Company's core business is passenger transportation. Its activities also include cargo, aeronautics maintenance and other air-transport related activities, including principally catering and charter services. The Company’s business segments comprise: passenger, cargo, maintenance and others. The Company operates in five geographical regions: Europe and North Africa; Caribbean, French Guiana and Indian Ocean; Africa, Middle East; Americas, Polynesia; Asia and New Caledonia. As of March 31, 2008, Air France-KLM fleet in operation comprised: aircraft other fleet 8%; aircraft in the regional fleet 31%; long-haul aircraft 28%, and medium-haul aircraft, which represented 33%. On February 14, 2008, the Company acquired VLM Airlines. In January 2008, the Company acquired an additional 1.25% of KLM. After this acquisition Air France-KLM held 98.75% interest representing 49% of KLM voting rights.
